Founder profile
David Drueding
Owner & Founder, SailData Technologies
David has spent his career making complicated systems behave. Starting in late-90s San Francisco, he helped tech startups scale through exponential growth, and as IT Manager of TechPartners International he connected offices across three countries into one secure, coherent network — an early lesson in turning fragmented infrastructure into something people can simply rely on.
At CNET he deployed company-wide internal systems and helped plan a new headquarters with fully integrated networking, security, and A/V. When Dolby Labs needed completely silent workstations for their acoustic test chambers, David engineered a custom solution using heatpipes and remote liquid cooling — removing the noise so the signal could be heard. It is a principle he has applied ever since.
Later, in the Monterey Bay area, he took charge of "everything with a plug" as one client grew from 20 employees with an AOL email account to a regional industry leader with 400+ employees across five divisions and eight locations. The constant through all of it: technology should reduce workload, not add to it.
SailData Technologies is that same discipline brought onboard. A modern sailboat generates valuable data across separate devices and interfaces, and David founded SailData to aggregate, evaluate, and interpret it — so sailors get less fragmented information, more confident decisions, and a better life on the water.
